How does color impact business cards?

This might be hard to believe, but colors play an important role in the display of emotions. In fact, the colors that are used in your cards can determine whether the recipient will want to do business with you or not!

Colors also symbolize your company’s mission, vision, and values. For example, if you have a toy store for kids, you wouldn’t want to decorate the stores with monochromatic and dull colors, right? You should ideally go for bright colors that appeal to both children and their parents!

So, determining the right kind of color combinations for your business cards is a big strategy.

What is the best color for a business card?

When it comes to choosing colors for a business card, there’s no one answer. It all depends on what kind of products and services you sell and the kind of customers you want to target.

But remember, your company and its bands are unique, so the color combination should also be unique. Picking the right colors can be tough, especially when you want to go for digital business cards.

If you’re stuck with the wrong color combinations, you’ll not only lose out on a lot of money but your customers won’t be satisfied. Ideally, you should first choose a basic color that resonates with your brands and then go for secondary and tertiary colors.

What do colors mean in business cards?

Every hue has a distinct meaning and effect on the human psyche. Here are a few popular colors used on business cards, along with their meaning:

1. Blue

Blue is probably the most popular color in businesses simply because it stands for calmness and peace. Blue is also associated with competence and trust, which is why a sky-blue business card can instantly strike a chord with customers.

Companies like HP and Facebook value customer trust, hence their brand colors.

2. Red

While not a lot of marketers like red, it sure is a powerful color. Red stands for passion, boldness, and the will to do something out of the box.

When we think of brands that use red, we instantly think of Coca-Cola and Target. If you’re passionate and action-oriented about your business, then red is the perfect color. It’s also a recommended color for fast-food joints because it symbolizes speed.

3. Green

Green symbolizes nature, humility, and love for people. If your company places focus on balance and gradual growth, use green on business cards.

For example, health and education-related businesses often use green to draw attention to sustainability. Companies like Starbucks and Animal Planet often emphasize environmentally friendly products.

4. Yellow

Yellow is not very widely used because it might be regarded as too bright on business cards, but it’s a favorite among companies that target youngsters, such as McDonald’s and Chevrolet.

If your business reflects the values of logic, creativity, and optimism, use a warm shade of yellow on your cards. Entertainment, teaching, art, and journalism are the perfect platforms for yellow.

5. Black

Black is also a popularly used color in the world of business cards because it stands for seriousness, power, and mystery. You’ll often notice lawyers distributing sleek black business cards.

It can be a great option for premium businesses, such as Adidas and Louis Vuitton. If you sell premium products for only a selected group of rich customers, black is your color.

6. White

White represents tradition, calmness, and tranquility. However, if your business card is mostly white, it won’t appeal to the recipient, so make sure to combine it with colors like black, blue, or brown.

White is also regarded as the color of premium customers, so companies like MAC and Tesla often use it on their products and logos.

7. Gray

Standing between black and white, gray is the perfect color for businesses belonging to the corporate world. So, if you have a law or consulting firm, design a metallic gray business card.

Gray also symbolizes seriousness and hard work. Not only is it one of the safest colors for a business card but it can also be combined with many other colors to reflect other company values.

Conclusion

There are innumerable color combinations available for you to explore, try & use on your business cards.

For example, pink represents care and perfection, which can be a great fit for fashion-related businesses. On the other hand, orange reflects youthfulness and is suitable for toy stores.

Depending on what message you want to convey to customers, choose your colors wisely!
